Karen Dold is a co-founder of Move With Elan, a practice of the Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education. She is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner (GCFP)and a Bones for Life® teacher. Karen's interest in the relationship between one's daily experience in life and one's habits of movement and thought arises from her training in the martial arts and meditation. She trained for nine years in Shorin-ryu Karate, to the rank of second-degree black belt. During the last four years of her training, she taught the art. She has also trained for over 10 years in Taijiquan with the Magic Tortoise School of Taijiquan, including participating in the school's Teacher Training Program. During her martial arts career, Karen practiced Zen meditation. A lifelong athlete, Karen has played tennis, basketball, and volleyball, as well as run, cycled, and hiked. She also has a strong avocational interest in energetic healing. She therefore brings not only a physical, but also spiritual and energetic perspectives to her interaction with her clients. Through the discovery process that Karen creates as a teacher and coach, her clients discover for themselves greater freedom of choice in their movements, leading to greater freedom of choice in their lives. Karen's talent in guiding people through this process of self-discovery is supported by her strengths of compassion, creativity, communication, relationship building, and ability to discern small differences. Karen is a member of the Feldenkrais Guild® of North America and serves the Guild as a member of the Nominating Committee.
